Let Natalie show you how to create this lovely shrug in cotton.  It is the perfect project to work on while watching the Olympics.   Class will meet 6:30 pm. – 8 pm. Tuesdays August 5 and August 12.

Basic Socks

Have you wanted to try to knit socks? Have you wanted to try some of the fun self striping sock yarns? Then this is the class for you. The socks will be knit from the cuff down using a basic pattern. Three methods for knitting socks (and knitting in the round) will be demonstrated in the first class: four double pointed needles, two circular needles, and magic loop using one long circular needle. Supplies: 400 yards of fingering/sock weight yarn (gauge 7 or 8 stitches per inch). Size 1, 2 or 3 needles: if you knit loosely or want a firm knit for your sock select size1, if you knit tightly select size 3. Select four double pointed needles or 2 24" circular needles (with smooth joins where the needle is attached to the cable) or one 32" or 40" circular needle for the magic loop. If you want to knit 2 socks at once you will need to chose either 2 circulars or magic loop and you will want longer needles (32" inch for 2 circulars and 40 inch for magic loop.) Class times: Tuesdays Sept. 9 and Sept. 23 from 6:30 to pm. A third class will be held later to cover turning the heel and picking up the gusset. Cost of first 2 classes: $30.00. Taught by Judy
