  2. Hi, Hazel here. I stopped last Thursday on my way back from Salisbury…..what is the name of that lovely scarf you showed me that is made out of several colors of the cotton yarn, and has different stitch patterns?
I started on the Sallie Melvile top- I like the way the Remix works up.

    • Hazel,
Thanks for the message. It was great to meet and talk to you Thursday night. The multi-colored cotton scarf you saw is called the Road Map Scarf. We will have a class on this scarf beginning this coming Thursday June 11, 2015 from 6 – 8 pm. The class will run every Thursday from 6 – 8 from June 11 until July 9. If you aren’t able to make it for a night or two we can work with your schedule and get you the help you need. Just e-mail Judy at drjbateman98 (at) gmail.com. or call the shop at 336-889-8650.

  3. So glad you keep sending me notices. I really want to get back to knitting and to try my hand at crochet. For being retired, I’ve never been so busy! Keep me on your mailing list. Thanks.

    • Roberta,
We hope you will get a chance to visit us some time in the future. If you would like to learn crochet we have a fabulous teacher in Wendi Cusins and she is happy to schedule a class that works around your schedule. Of course, if knitting is your favorite then Judy is here at the shop and also does private lessons that work with your schedule. In any case please feel free to stop by the shop any time we are open to catch your breath or just knit a few stitches. We would love to see you!

  4. I was trying to comment on the blog, but cannot find a place to do that – you know for a square on my “YARNS” card!! I had fun on Monday night when I stopped in!! I saw some old friends and met some new ones.

    • Diane,
It was great to see you and we’re thrilled that you enjoy the Yarns card. Thanks for the post of Ravelry.
We hope it’s not too long before we can visit again with you.

  5. Hello, I have tried many times to call you, but the phone just rings and rings and no one ever answers…and there is not an answering machine???? I really want to schedule a private lesson. Would you please email me and let me know if that is a possibility.

    Thanks so much.

    • Hey Carolyn,
Sorry for the long awaited reply. I’m not sure what is going on with the phone, but we have someone there most days and just to make sure you have the correct number it is 336-889-8650. Judy broke her hip the first of February on the ice and isn’t available until probably the end of May for private lessons. I know this is a long wait but I will forward your information to her.

  6. Hi, I was as wondering if you sell or have in stock the Bernat pipsqeak sittin pretty yarn? I have started a blanket for my first grand daughter, due in May and can not find this color any where to buy and have enough to finish the blanket. Also I’m fairly new to crocheting and the little bit I do know, I learned from YouTube but I’ve been trying to learn more stitches and how to read patterns. I noticed you you have open crochet nights. Is this lessons, because I really need some lol. If it is lessons, would it be good for someone like me that is pretty much just beginning or is it geared to the more advanced crocheter? Thank you

    • Hi Missey,
Thanks for posting on our web site. I am afraid I do not carry the Bernat yarn you need. Sometimes if you contact the company they can put you in touch with the shops that bought that particular color.

As for Open Crochet night on Mondays we have a wide range of experience that meet on that night. Please join us this coming Monday. We would love to have you. We call it Open Crochet night because we always have someone in the shop who can give crochet help if there are any questions. We do have an excellent crochet teacher who gives individual lessons that work around your schedule as well as larger crochet classes so I think you would find something that interests you. The bad thing is she will be going on a trip out of the country the first of March for about a month, but she will be here next Monday and you might be able to speak with her about future classes and lessons.

We look forward to seeing you. Come by the shop and bring your project anytime we are open. We have the Keurig brewing and plenty of chairs.

      Peggy, Judy and Wendi

    • David,
Sorry but I’m afraid I am a true “Peggy”, not a Margaret. I do not know of a Margaret Parish. However, there is a knit and crochet web site that is over 5 million members strong that she may be a member of. The site is http://www.ravelry.com. Good Luck!

  7. Do you have open crochet during the day when you are open?. I am retired and would love to come during the day and leave room for the working public to take advantage of the nightly open crochet sessions.
    Thank you

    • Joan,
Anytime the shop is open you are more than welcome to stop by and bring your latest project. We love to have our customers visit and work on projects during the day too. We hope to see you there.

  8. Hi there. I am the activities coordinator for the Thomasville Senior Center. I have had several ladies interested in learning how to knit and crochet. Would you be willing to come teach a few classes? We would love to have you! If not, do you know someone in the area who would be interested? Thanks for your help!

    • Sarah,

I would be happy to inquire at the shop. Would we need to bring supplies for purchase by the ladies? And would we be able to charge a class fee? I know sometimes seniors are on limited financial resources but wanted to find out some of the details.

  9. Hello,

I’m looking for someone who can make a Challah Infinity Scarf for me. Unfortunately I can’t knit, but I want this beautiful scarf terribly. If there is someone here that can make this scar for me please contact me and tell me with price and time frame. I have a pic of the scarf, it can also be seen on the Pam Powers website. I look forward to speaking with someone about this project.

    Thank you,

    Denise Brown

    • Denise,

I received your message about the Challah Infinity Scarf and will talk to a couple of experienced knitters about what they would charge to knit this scarf. I’ll try to get back to you later in the week. On another track would you like to learn to knit? We have a beginner’s knitting class beginning next week, and you’d be able to knit all sorts of beautiful things! I’m just trying to tempt you!

I’ll get back with you on the Challah Scarf price, but if you decide to join the class it’s just $40.00 for four lessons and meets on Saturdays in October.

  10. Hi! I was looking for crochet instruction locally when I came across your business. I think it is exactly what I am looking for. I just have a few questions please.
I have crocheted as a child but very little as an adult. I was reading about your fees for classes and want to make sure I understand. For new folks it’s $35 for the first 3 classes? Is that per class? And then $5 per class after that, including the Mon. And Thurs. Open class?
During Monday and Thursdays open classes do you just bring whatever you are working on?
I have purchased an instruction book to make Lovie Blankets and some yarn. Is that ok or am I expected to purchase everything from your shop?
Is it ok to bring a drink to your class as I have a medical condition that keeps me thirsty?
LookING forward to hearing from you and joining you!
    Pam Elkes Landrum

    • Pam,

The fee for beginning crochet is $35 total for all three classes. There is no charge for our Monday or Thursday open times. In fact, you can stop by the shop anytime we are open and crochet as much as you want for free too. For the open times you can bring any yarn or any project you are working on. For the beginning class we do like you to purchase the yarn or hooks you are using from the shop. You may want to contact Wendi, our crochet teacher, for more details at wendi (at) wendisworkbasket.com . And finally, you are more than welcome to bring a drink to class. In fact, there are many times we keep bottled water in a refrigerator in the back, and we have a Keurig pod machine if you’d like a cup of coffee. Please stop by the shop either tonight (Monday) from 6:30 – 8:30 or Thursday night from 5:30 – 7:30 for our open nights. We’d love to meet you and can answer any other questions you may have.

  11. Just had a question about your beginner class for this month… Is the $40 fee for all four Saturday’s or just one?

    • Anna,

The $40 fee is for all four Saturdays, and if for some reason you can’t make a particular class Judy will work with you to make sure you get the extra class time. If you want to take the class you can e-mail Judy at drjbate98 (at) gmail.com, or info (at) commonthreadsnc.com. We hope to see you at the shop.
